Released March 2013
The 2009 BSH sets a new standard for this blend, just edging out the fabulous 2005. This wine grabs your attention from the first look at the obsidian-ruby color to the phenomenal aromas of crushed black fruit wrapped in a soothing veil of otherworldly smokiness all the way through to its amazing finish. The texture is voluptuous and mouth-filling with a superb structure of rich tannins. The flavors cover an 88 key (piano) range of notes form the deep bass to the high notes. This complexity is rare in a multi-vineyard wine where multiple flavors often cancel each other out, but this is definitely one that offers a brilliant dynamic range across a very long palate.
