The Loft American Brasserie and Bar, Ashland, Oregon

Jacqueline Vidalo of The Loft American Brasserie and Bar, Ashland, Oregon enjoys a glass of O-S wine with Erika Balbier of Summitt Beverage, Medford.

Jacqueline is enthusiastic, "I love the O-S Red. It is my go to wine. I worked it as one of my glass pours last summer and it had an instant following! This season after Summit brought it back down I put it on my wine list immediately. It has once again proved to be a favorite here at The Loft! It goes great with our cuisine. It is a palate pleaser. I am so glad to have it back."

Mike Allen of Elliott Bay Distibuting, Mauro Golmarvi of Assaggio, a premium Seattle Italian restaurant, with Rob Sullivan and Bill Owen of O·S Winery

"Rob, Bill, Ross (taking photo) and Mike recently visited me at my restaurant, Assaggio. I decided to join them for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised when I notice they had a bottle of the OS R3, 2005 in tow. I immediately know what I was ordering for lunch, my lamb shank! This great blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc does not disappoint. It paired perfectly with my lamb shank; particularly with the peppery and violet notes that popped from the Cabernet Franc. The flavors really exploded and melded seamlessly with the robust, saucy richness from my lamb shank. Try it sometime!"

In a word: Serious. The lush, voluptuous Merlot character is transformed in this wine from merely pretty to irresistible. It's the tannic structure inherent in Elephant Mountain wines. This provides the lift that carries the dark fruit flavors. Mineral, leather and floral notes reveal a broad palate impression. It impels the taster to start eating: Duck breast, halibut, veal, risotto....

The palate features a sensual mouthful of dark fruit flavors as well as fennel, graphite and mineral notes. Overall it's a delicious, harmonious wine that yields flavors that build with every sip.

2012 Riesling

The 2012 is a new high point in our quest for rock-your-boat Riesling. The apple blossom and citrus nose is that of a promising youngster, but the broad, incredibly flavorful palate belies its delicate 9% alc. Quince, lemon custard, lime, and honey-tinged mineral notes are carried on a wave of bracing acidity (8.5g/L with 3.06 pH). The finish is nothing short of poetic in an epic sort of way. This beauty is guaranteed to get markedly more complex in the next couple of years and to age well for 20 more (2034). So buy it by the case. Besides the pure joy of it you can gloat over what an amazing deal it was back in the day.

This is the inaugural vintage of Sonas, the blend formerly known as Ulysses. It is the 8th vintage of our singular 'right-bank' blend from Sheridan Vineyard. Aromas of crush black fruit, wet stones, earth and spices dominate on the nose. A silky texture laced with rich tannins that carry the dark-toned flavors of blackberry, currants and black plums to the mid-palate notes of blueberry, espresso and leather. The overall impression of Sonas is of a unique wine that is instantly discernible as Sheridan.

This Cabernet Franc strikes an exquisite balance between richness of flavor and a near weightlessness on the palate. There is the classic aroma of crushed rose petals with a hint of earthiness. R3, Catherine Deneuve-that's all you need to know. Beyond that however there is the dark, elusive side of the '05 vintage; the aroma of black cherries and clove with hints of roses. Richness and concentration are balanced with soft, supple tannins and acidity. The flavors of cassis, dark chocolate and ripe blackberry are generous but still subtle. This is a graceful wine from its plush, mouth-filling start to its deliciously lingering finish.
